The venotonic properties of Venen Stark conferring a vascular protective action combined with highly anti-inflammatory, anti-oedematous, diuretic and free radical scavenger power, capable of inhibiting the activity of enzymes involved in the degradation of proteoglycans (which compromises part of the endothelium vascular and extravascular matrix).

These characteristics make this extract ideal for treating venous insufficiency of different aetiologies, especially in the presence of varicose veins and/or haemorrhoids, reducing the capillary permeability, itching and oedema, dyslipidaemia, cardiovascular disease or the normal process of ageing.

Bioflavonoids (such as rutin) are increasingly being seen as protective agents against various conditions ranging from venous, coronary, oncological and inflammatory (especially intestinal) diseases. 

The effectiveness of combining Butcher ́s-Broom with vitamin C and hesperidin (rutin-like bioflavonoid) in chronic venous disease is supported by several clinical studies and 2 meta-analyses in which a significant reduction in various symptoms and ankle circumference in response to treatment is confirmed, and currently holds the 1st Degree of Recommendation and an A-Level of Evidence.

The combination of Aesculus hyppocastanum, Hamamelis virginiana, Cupressus sempervirens, Ruscus aculeatus and Ginkgo biloba, has been shown to improve venous microangiopathy and oedema, with good tolerability and without side effects
